About the Project

100 days
100 lives
100 words

From 5th August 2018, join the First World War Centenary Partnership, led by IWM, and 26 to commemorate the Hundred Days offensive and the end of the First World War.

The 100 DAYS project has engaged 100 volunteer writers from 26 Characters Ltd, a not-for-profit organisation representing a diverse group of people who share a love of words. Each writer has created a 100 word piece (a centena) inspired by and based on the life of a real individual who experienced the First World War. These centenas will be connected to at least 100 member organisations of the First World War Centenary Partnership, whose commemorative activity is reflected in the themes explored in the centena, and who may have been supporting the writer in their research. The centenas will be released daily, from 5th August to 12th November, and each day will showcase the work of different members of the Partnership.
