National Museum of Ireland – new online collections

Over the last 18 months, Lar Joye and Brenda Malone, of the National Museum of Ireland, have placed resources from the museum’s collections relating to the 1916 Rising, First World War and War of Independence on their website.

In 1936, surviving participants of the 1916 Easter Rising signed their names to a Roll of Honour, which was deposited in the National Museum. The document is comprised of 48 pages and includes 1655 signatures, as well as the names of those who died at the time or in the subsequent two decades.

Historical Collections Online

Also available is the Historical Collections Online, a sample of 10,000 artefacts from the National Museum of Ireland’s Historical, Military and Easter Week Collections, published as part of the Decade of Commemorations.
