RC Sherriff project: To Journey’s End and Beyond

20 February 2015 | Kate Clements

Part of Surrey History Centre‘s RC Sherriff project ‘To Journey’s End and Beyond’ has involved running workshops in four schools in Elmbridge Borough.

The workshops used First World War playwright Sherriff’s letters to his parents from the front line to help students to understand what it was like to serve in the trenches. The output of these workshops are two short films, One Among Millions, and these can now be viewed on YouTube.

These two short films,  One Among Millions: Letters from the Frontline and One Among Millions: The military career of RC Sherriff, explore Sherriff’s service in the First World War and use music, original film footage and the students’ creative responses to Sherriff’s letters home to evoke life on the Western Front.
